The Pitch: Denzel and Mark-e-Mark both want to do a buddy cop movie, but both want to be undercover agents, but not on the same side. It'll be like doubling down on Entrapment but making it look like a Tony Scott film. Seriously, just make the movie and it'll perform well.
What Took Me So Long: It didn't look good enough to see in theaters yet looked charming enough to not put off for too much longer.
Why I Saw It: (Club 50) Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg are very comfortable in these roles and play off each other very well. All I wanted from this was some action mixed with a little comedy and that's precisely what was delivered. It didn't try to get too complex with all the undercover work.
Why I Wish I Hadn't: By now, the execution of this kind of movie needs to be transcendent for it to make an impact. Being simply "good" means that three weeks from now, I'll be saying things like "was that diner scene something from 2 Guns or Domino?".
Verdict (?): Weakly Recommend
