DVR Purge: 11/25-11/30

It looks like it was mostly just Fox still doing new episodes. Luckily, most of my favorite network shows are on Fox.

Past Purges

New Girl "Thanksgiving IV"
Setup a simple premise, let funny people be funny, and add a little bit of heart. That basic formula works wonders on this show. I also love seeing Alison Becker show up as a guest star in any show.

The Mindy Project "How to Lose a Mom in Ten Days"
They are getting more burn out of Rhea Perlman than I originally assumed. I sure would like a storyline with Jeremy one of these days.

Girl Meets World "Girl Meets Brother"
My god, that director or editor or whoever was in charge of it was heavy of the "awww"s from the studio audience. That was the most saccharine episode yet. I love how the show is slowly filling new fans in on the Boy Meets World key moments. Between the clips this week and the news that the next episode will be a mini-reunion (Shawn's back!!!), I'm super nostalgic right now.

Mulaney "Motif in the City"
Week 2 of officially hate watching. Good god!

Brooklyn Nine Nine "The Road Trip"
I want to be way more irritated by the stringing along of Peralta and Santiago but I just can't. The character dynamics are staying the same the whole time so it all feels so natural. The B and C stories were excellent too. Boyle and Holt is an underused and entertaining pairing. They are a good Yin and Yang. Then there's Stephanie Beatriz getting the opportunity to drop the seriousness of Diaz for an episode and be hilarious, revved up on the non-drowsy medicine.

The Walking Dead "Coda"
I'm not on the "The Walking Dead has been fantastic this season" bandwagon that everyone else is on. It's been better and it has been since they left the prison. This episode was a slight let down as mid-season finale, but getting to see all the characters was nice. There were a lot of beats that were really force though, like they were writing the episode backwards. Father Gabriel leaving the church still doesn't make sense except when it starts from the idea of him being the one locked out of the prison. I can see why they could want to have Beth take out Dawn, but 1) they really didn't build Dawn up enough to really worry about her and 2) that was such a stupid move to try to kill Dawn (They were in a stand-off already. Did Beth want to get everyone killed?). It was all very messy, but they've ended seasons or breaks on much worst notes before than this. Let's see where we go in February.
