Quick Reaction: Three Days of the Condor

I definitely enjoy these 70s paranoid thrillers even if I have a hard time telling them apart. It’s fun to see how the turbulent 60s and the lies about Vietnam getting exposed led to a mindset in the 70s that there’s something “they” aren’t telling us and it goes all the way to the top. Then the Watergate scandal solidified the paranoia as justified. The fact that you can’t outright dismiss even the most radical theories is the thing that makes Three Days of the Condor sing. I get why Robert Redford kept getting cast for this kind of movie. His performances have such integrity that he can make just about anything sound not only plausible but reasonable. I don’t have a ton to say about Three Days of the Condor specifically, since the details are already blending in with other films of its ilk. I can just say that it is thoroughly enjoyable. Perfect if you’ve ever watched a Bourne movie and thought “Enough with the fighting. Just get to the conspiracy already!”

Verdict: Strongly Recommend
