Premise: After the death of his wife, an older blind Vietnam War veteran moves into a retirement community where some suspicious deaths have occurred.
I don't think Late Phases is a great movie. Monster movies have never really been my jam. It's hard to make a good looking were-wolf on a limited budget. This doesn't exactly overcome its other limitations with great acting.
There is something I respect about the straightforwardness of the movie though. There's a werewolf attack early on. The protagonist knows what it is. He knows the rules of werewolves. He doesn't need anyone to explain common lore to him or convince him that it is a werewolf. He knows it and spends the next month preparing for it. I wish the rest of the movie between his preparations was a little more interesting, but I like that it doesn't waste a lot of time convincing the audience that it's a werewolf movie when we knew that going in. When it actually gets to the werewolf attack, it's decently exciting. Again, the costumes aren't the best, but they work for the budget.
Verdict: Weakly Don't Recommend
